NiftiCard®, our VISA® Check Card
The North Island Financial Transactions and Information card—NiftiCard, for short—is a check card, as well as an ATM card.
- As readily accepted as a credit card, NiftiCard has no finance charges or annual fees. That's because NiftiCard is not a credit card—purchases come out of your Island Checking account.
- Make purchases in person, by phone, by mail—even on the Internet. Use it instead of writing a check at supermarkets, gas stations, restaurants, movie theaters, sporting events—wherever Visa debit cards are accepted.
- Make withdrawals, transfers, and inquiries at millions of ATMs worldwide; Make deposits at designated Island and CO-OP Network ATMs.

ATM Card Transactions
Use your NiftiCard for ATM access to your savings and checking accounts at thousands of machines worldwide. Your NiftiCard can also be used to pay for purchases and services wherever ATM or debit cards are accepted, but credit cards may not be. You can even get cash back with your purchase at electronic checkout terminals in stores, gas stations, supermarkets, fast food restaurants and more. You will be prompted to enter your NiftiCard Personal ID Number (PIN) for all ATM card transactions.
- A surcharge may be assessed by the merchant or ATM owner
- Merchant surcharges can be avoided entirely by using NiftiCard as a check card rather than an ATM card (press the "credit" key at self-service terminals or hand your card to the cashier—no PIN required)
- ATM surcharges can be avoided entirely by using the thousands of fee-free Island, Co-Op Network, and participating 7-Eleven® store ATMs.
Check Card Transactions
The most efficient way to use NiftiCard is as a true check card. It's the only way to ensure your purchase won't incur any third-party fees and it's your best option everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. Just hand your card to the cashier, or if you're at a self-service terminal pass your card through the reader and push the "Credit" key.
By phone or online, just read/enter your card number. It's the same way you use a credit card, except Visa knows to deduct the purchase from your checking account.
- There are no fees or surcharges for check card use in person, by phone, by mail, and on the Internet.
Changing Your NiftiCard PIN
When you first receive your NiftiCard by mail, a Personal ID Number (PIN) will follow a few days later. This number is computer-generated by an outside firm to protect your privacy. You can change this PIN to something that's easier for you to remember, as often as you wish, at any Island ATM. Just pass your card through the reader, enter your original PIN, press the "Other" button until you see "Change PIN" and then follow the screen prompts.
Lost/Stolen NiftiCards
To report lost/stolen NiftiCards call the Island Contact Center immediately. After hours, contact Visa at 888-220-9591 (toll free, nationwide, 24 hours a day).
